Many of the viruses doing the rounds this winter are sitting on people’s chests leaving a lingering cough for a month post infection.  I don’t often listen to the news but was heartened last night to hear a report on how the over-prescribing of antibiotics for these viruses needs to be stopped and alternative measures of treatment sought to avoid creating resistance to antibiotics and the emergence of “super bugs”. Naturopathically this is one of the areas in which we excel.  We have access to herbs that are designed to combat viruses and when given at the start of an infection can reduce not only the time of the infection but also the intensity.  I understand when you are sick you may not feel up to coming in for a consultation but I do offer phone and skype consultations which would be of benefit during these times. This way we can start treatment immediately and work out the best treatment plans to get you back on track.

Chest Rub
5g unbleached beeswax (1 heaped tsp)
45ml organic extra virgin olive or coconut oil
8 drops Kunzea essential oil
8 drops Peppermint Gum essentialoil
sterilised glass jar 60g

Method
Place pyrex jug in small saucepan of hot water over low heat.
Place oil and beeswax in a jug and melt.  This can take between 5-10 minutes
Remove from heat and stir in essential oils.  Pour into glass jar and seal.  Leave to cool.  Rub into chest as required.

This is a great petroleum free alternative to VICKS Vapour Rub.

I would recommend making a batch to have on hand.
