Cheers to a Happy, Healthy, Shining New You!
I don’t know about you but we are at the start of a whole new year and I’m exhausted already. Time off was hectic with continuing renovations and getting things in order ready to start the new year.
I’ve started writing this newsletter several times over with ideas and tips on getting into the new year and fulfilling your New Year’s Resolutions, but I’ve scrapped them because I feel they lacked substance and heart. Informative, yes but missing the vital link of heart x 2015 was a massive year for me personally with turning 40 (something that unfortunately Noah happily tells everyone he meets..bless him) and moving house and clinic into one. My intention as I set out the year was to be “Fit, Fabulous and 40″…….I reckon I could own parts of that but not fully :), Time seemed to just get away from me and I felt swamped, overwhelmed and most of all neglected myself… The more study I do and more people I see I realise that we need to simplify things. Break our health needs and treatment down into smaller portions so we can more fully understand how to implement changes into our daily routines in a more sustainable way. Our pre-Christmas 7 Day Energising Detox was a great success and one of the reasons for this was that it was only 7 days……
Did you know that when removing concentrated sugars from the diet that it takes a full 7 days for the body to reset its taste buds?
I also realised more completely was the importance of community… and how much this impacted on people’s health. I feel we need to create a sense of community amongst ourselves and work in increments on tasks that we might otherwise abandon because they seem insurmountable. Having a base of like-minded people to connect with and support one-another is a great way of staying on track and really growing from the experience. For this reason, and now school with school back next week, I’d like to start a series of workshops where we can come together, learn about foods, how they work, the best ways to prepare and cook them, which parts of the body they are helpful for, how to get fussy family members to eat them and so forth. Each session will only be an hour long and will end with a guided meditation. The cost will be $15.00 per person and the workshop will run for 7 weeks. I am happy to break the workshops into smaller groups on different days so please let me know the best times for you. I am currently thinking 1pm on either Monday or Tuesday before school pick-up or a Saturday afternoon. Please email or call me with questions and expressions of interest so we can organise a suitable time for everyone and get started to a Shining New You :).
My challenge to you this year is to think about how you are going to create your Shining New you! Sit down in your favourite chair and journal what you want out of this year….what will make you shine. One of my favourite things to do is write down a few things that I’m grateful for each morning and night. I find this keeps me focussed on what I want, where I’m going, and of course helps me not take for granted those people and little things in life that we often put by the wayside because we are on a mission. If there is something you want to achieve, give yourself a deadline to achieve it by to help keep your focus. I’ve had requests from people also who missed our pre-Christmas detox to do another 7-Day Energising Detox, so we will be running it again at beginning of February. Please contact me with expressions of interest and to secure your spot! The Detox is only $59 and numbers this time will be limited to 10 people. Here’s what some of our pre-Christmas detoxers had to say!
“I have enjoyed the link between food and spirit(TM), the different mixtures of ingredients for smoothies (because I love smoothies) and how foods relate to the different chakras. Before this I didn’t really know what and where the chakras were. I loved the meditations. I also loved gaining more ideas for vegetarian dishes. This is a program that I will do again early next year when I am focussed on beginning the year with a clear intent in mind. I feel like I have added more resources and knowledge to my ‘health’ library and that’s a great thing! …”
“Hi Juanita, I loved it, as you know. Really appreciated all the information and ideas you put together for us to work with. Will definitely revisit and keep referring to your resources. Well done x”
Next week with Kindy back, clinic will once again be in full swing. I look forward to seeing you soon and working with you to make 2016 your best year ever! I will leave you with some awesome advice from the spunky Gwen Stefanie…..
Much love, Juanita (and of course my apprentice herbalist, Noah) xxx
