It’s a question I am often asked and for good reason: “Why Prep?”.

There are many reasons to prep you food, day, week etc….one main one for me is so my head won’t explode :).  No seriously!  It keeps me on track.  I feel in control of my busy life and I don’t get that horrible feeling at meal time of staring at the fridge waiting for some inspiration and possibly a chef to jump out at me.
I find it especially important to prep before starting a detox.  I know we all think we eat and live pretty healthy, but sometimes our sneaky little habits like a cup of coffee, a glass of wine or beer or that little chocolate we might enjoy every now and then do make a difference, so when it comes to cutting them out completely we get nasty detox hangovers.  This is the number 1 reason many people refuse to detox because of all the bad wrap around the initial side-effects of “coming down” off of our stimulants.  Often the first few days is when people quit because they feel absolutely shocking…headaches, lack of energy, grumpy, constipated even!  The list can be extensive.
Prepping the week prior to starting any sort of cleanse is a great way to keep your focus, be kind to yourself when you fall off the wagon, and slowly but surely start to reduce these substances.  By the time the actual detox rolls around you’ll be wondering what all the fuss was in the first place!
I don’t just prep for detoxing though I prep daily to ensure I stay on track.  Doing up a meal plan for the week is a massive help and also minimises any food wastage that often happens when we aren’t prepared.   I only buy ingredients for the meals in my weekly meal plan and if possible buy my bulk items ready to grab week in week out.
If there are items I can precook and freeze, I do!  When reheating it is always good to pop a frozen homemade meal in the oven or on the stove and slowly reheat.  I am not a fan of microwaves as they alter the nutritional content of our foods as well as a few other nasty little side effects.
So I encourage you to prep.  Be kind to yourself and don’t expect miracles but you may just find prepping changes how you view your day and things such as detoxing or losing that weight might not seem as daunting once you are more prepared mentally and physically.
The Summer 7 Day Detox is currently running so if you are wanting a different approach to feeling fantastic without all the pills and potions ask me questions.  The response has been fantastic and most people are doing their detox at their own pace.   A few Mums have mentioned they would like to do the detox as a group effort for the extra support now school is back so if you are keen to be a part of a group let me know and I can organise this for you.  I will be personally doing my detox next week so happy to have a detox buddy if you are keen!  For more info on the detox either call me or click below!
